Artificial Light
Gita Mukundan is a very important person in my life because she always brings a light-hearted and fun mood to the occasion. She can always make you laugh no matter what mood you're in. Because of her personality, I chose to make her smile or do silly poses to bring out her fun-loving aspects and added some random props to make it more crazy. I wanted to create a happy mood so I used a lot of natural light. This unit has affected my photography by increasing the realism in my shots. Using the knowledge I now have about lighting, I can identify and control overexposure in some of my shots. Overall, this unit taught me how to create more professional shots.
Avani Sonawane did pretty well with her 5 photos. I think she did a pretty good job of capturing my personality and the different aspects of me. My favorite photo is the second one because it is contrasting with the snow. I like the shadows and the outside background that is displayed in the photo.
ReplyDeleteThe personality of this model is shown differently from each of these photos. The first photo shows that this model is crazy. This is seen from the positioning of the model and how she is all lit. The second photo shows that the model isn’t always crazy. It shows a more calm side of her. The natural environment and the black and white add to the calm of the photo. The third and fourth photos show that the personality of the subject is more fun than just serene. The last photo reverts back to the naturalness of the subject. The bright snow against her being slightly darker causes the subject to stand out. The story being portrayed by this photographer is the story of the subject. It’s that the subject is a crazy and fun girl with a serene side. Some suggestions that I could give this photographer is playing with more color instead of all black and white. Also, I’d work on making the backgrounds less distracting.
ReplyDeleteBy looking at the photos I get the sense that the model is can be silly, but also calm. The model's more quirky side was shown through the first and fourth photos with silly faces. The more calm side was shown with more neutral facial expressions, and the soft lighting in the third photo really enhanced that. The different lightings really enhanced the mood of each photo: big smiles in bright lighting, calm expression in soft lighting. The use of the patterned background for the first photo really added to the chaotic feel. For next time, maybe some photos could be left in color to show the more happy/ energetic side of the model.
ReplyDeleteAvani- You can tell that your subject is a very happy person and crazy in a good way. The different settings make for more interesting photos. There were not many props used, which shows that she doesn’t need props to be silly, and it doesn’t take away from the focus being on her, so good job. As a suggestion for next time, I would take some photos closer to her face with direct light, like a professional would. Great job!
