1. How did you take the photograph?
I took the landscape pictures on my phone and the picture of me was taken by a professional digital camera. All the landscape pictures were taken in the early morning around my house and backyard.
2.Why is this photo good (compositional standpoint)?
I think they are a good set of photos because some parts are completely dark while others are bursting with color, which, I believe, adds a sense of energy to the composition. There is a good sense of contrast between different circles and even within some of them and there is an abundance of vibrancy.
3.Why do you value this photograph? (sentimental standpoint)
I value these photographs because I love the scenery and landscape of the area near my house in morning. It's just really refreshing to see after living in a time period where all you see are computer, TV, and phone screens everywhere. It just reminds me that there is so much more to see in the world.
4. What is your theme? How did you showcase your identity?
The theme of my sketchbook cover is that "where there is darkness, there is light.". It goes from darkest to lightest with pieces of me in different parts of the sketchbook. I showcased my identity within my theme. It just reminds me that whenever I feel down or am having a bad day ( the dark side), there will always be ways to make it better and happier(the light side). I just have to allow myself to let it get better and not get stuck on the past.
5.How do the other images relate to your theme?
They all play a part in my dark vs. light theme. They are what makes the dark side or the light side.
6.Describe how you used the chosen principle of design.
I mainly used repetition on my sketchbook cover. The circles are repeated over and over again to create a sense of rhythm within the work. You could even say I incorporated contrast within this cover by playing around with the lights and darks of in each of the many circles.
